Imperious (Pellaeon-class)

Description

The Imperious was a Pellaeon-class Star Destroyer manufactured by Kuat Drive Yards for the Fel Empire. The design of the ship drew upon the distinctive wedge-shape of earlier Star Destroyers, and featured a heavily slanted forward hull.

History

The Pellaeon-class Star Destroyer Imperious was constructed as the flagship of Imperial Grand Admiral Morlish Veed, and was in service in the years leading up to the Sith–Imperial War of 127130 ABY, between the Empire and the Galactic Alliance.

In 130 ABY, the Imperious served as Veed's flagship at the Battle of Caamas, the last major conflict of the Sith–Imperial War. In the aftermath of Caamas, just three hours after the Massacre at Ossus—which saw the deaths of many Jedi at the hands of the Fel Empire's allies, the One Sith—newly promoted High Moff Veed, Moff Morrigan Corde, and Sith Lord Darth Maladi met on the Imperious above Coruscant to discuss their plans for the Empire, which called for replacing Emperor Roan Fel. The discussion aboard the Imperious led to the coup that placed Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Krayt on the throne and the beginning of Krayt's Galactic Empire.

Commanders and crew

The Imperious was the flagship of Grand Admiral Morlish Veed and, as such, was under his overall command. After Darth Krayt deposed Emperor Fel, the Imperious began its service in the new Sith Empire, remaining under Veed's command.

Behind the scenes

The Imperious made its first appearance in the eighth issue of the Star Wars: Legacy series, Allies, published in February 2007. The issue was written by John Ostrander and penciled by Adam DeKraker. In the story arc Indomitable, there appears an Advanced Star Destroyer also called Imperious. However, Ostrander mentioned on TheForce.net's Jedi Council Forums that when writing Indomitable, he made a mistake in naming both ships Imperious, which his editor also missed before it went to print.
