Iridonia

Iridonia was a planet located in the galaxy's Mid Rim, in grid square J-7 on the Standard Galactic Grid. It was the homeworld of the near-human Zabrak species, with the Zabrak subspecies hailing from Iridonia being specifically known as Iridonian Zabraks. The planet was tough and arid, and so created tough natives.

Iridonia was the homeworld of the Zabrak bounty hunter Sugi and her niece Jas Emari, who considered it to be brutal and unforgiving. Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi mistakenly believed the that the Zabrak Darth Maul's homeworld was Iridonia when in fact he was a member of the Dathomirian subspecies of Zabrak who hailed from the planet Dathomir, home to a tribal group of male Zabrak known as the Nightbrothers. The Zabrak Jedi Master Eeth Koth also hailed from the planet.

During the Clone Wars, Sugi's sister lived on Iridonia, and was sent what few credits her sister had left after she had paid her crew and maintained her gear. Iridonia was mentioned in an artist's journal, which was restored, expanded, and displayed at the Graf Archive at some point after 34 ABY.

Iridonia was first mentioned in the new Star Wars canon in "Witches of the Mist," a 2011 episode of the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars third season. The planet was originally created for the 2000 Star Wars Legends young readers novel Star Wars Episode I Journal: Darth Maul, written by Jude Watson.

The 2014 reference book Star Wars: A Galaxy at War mistakenly claims that Darth Maul was born on Iridonia. However, sources like the Encyclopedia on StarWars.com have established that Maul was born on Dathomir. The first issue of the Star Wars Jedi Master Magazine, published on November 16, 2015, states that Eeth Koth was from Nar Shaddaa. However, more recent sources such as 2019's Ultimate Star Wars, New Edition clarify he was from Iridonia.
