A Jedi guardian was a Force-sensitive individual who had been trained as a Jedi as an adopted member of a Jedi clan and graduated from being a Jedi apprentice. They were considered the lower caste of graduated apprentices; they were not deemed worthy of carrying a lightsaber as a Jedi knight, but served alongside the knights as a retainer to the lord or Jedi lord to whom they were pledged.
