Jodie Comer

Jodie Marie Comer (born March 11, 1993) is a British actress who portrays Rey's mother in the 2019 film Star Wars: Episode IX The Rise of Skywalker. She is best known for playing Russian assassin Oksana Astankova / Villanelle in the spy thriller series Killing Eve, for which she won a BAFTA Award for Best Actress and an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series; and Marguerite de Carrouges in the historical drama film The Last Duel (where she acts opposite fellow The Rise of Skywalker actor Adam Driver and fellow Star Wars actors Harriet Walter and Alex Lawther). Other roles of note include Chloe Gemell in the comedy-drama series My Mad Fat Diary, Ivy Moxam in the 2016 drama miniseries Thirteen, and Elizabeth of York in the 2017 historical miniseries The White Princess.

The actress filmed her scenes over the course of a single day, and had to keep her involvement with the film a secret. Despite not having seen any Star Wars films prior to her casting, Comer enjoyed the experience. According to the actress, she expected there to be lots of green-screen of visual effects, and she was surprised to see that a lot of the environment in her scenes was a practical, physical set, and that the puppet for Ochi of Bestoon was remote-controlled and had a mouth that moved.
