The Sith employed huge alchemically mutated silooths to wreak havoc on the world before warriors came to finish the battle. Afterward, the Sith left a horde of silooths on Kalsunor, which continued to prey upon anything they could, and even larger and angrier silooths than those encountered abroad were rumored to exist in Kalsunor's deep canyons. The Battle of Kalsunor was the only known instance of more than a token use of these beasts, whose ferocity may have been too much even for the ancient Sith.
Around 3638 BBY, during the Galactic War between the Galactic Republic and the reconstituted Sith Empire, the Republic succeeded in penetrating the Stygian Caldera and captured the Kalsunor system.
