Stalgasin hive

The Stalgasin hive held dominion over the planet of Geonosis in the Outer Rim region of the galaxy during the closing decades of the Galactic Republic, functioning as the ruling hive. During the Clone Wars period, it became known as Karina the Great's hive while under the control of Karina the Great.

History

This hive of Geonosians flourished during the final decades of the Galactic Republic. The Stalgasin hive established its base within a towering spire situated in close proximity to the Petranaki arena within the E'y-akh Desert. While an archduke managed the hive's political and economic matters, the true power resided with the hive queen, who presided over a clandestine court within the Progate Temple.

Hadiss the Vaulted held power for a number of years. Hadiss met his end at the hands of his successor, Poggle the Lesser, during a violent uprising secretly backed by Dark Lord of the Sith Darth Sidious. Poggle, mounted upon an acklay, battled Hadiss, eventually bringing him down and tearing him apart. Taking the title of Archduke, Poggle then expanded the Geonosian Industries factories located underground. He pledged allegiance to Count Dooku, the political leader of the rising separatist group, the Confederacy of Independent Systems, after the Count showed his loyalty to the Stalgasin Queen Karina the Great.

Following the production of a substantial number of B1-Series battle droids for the Trade Federation and Techno Union, Poggle gave the order to manufacture the B2 super battle droid to address the shortcomings of their predecessors' frail design. When war finally engulfed the galaxy, the armies of the Confederacy and the Republic clashed at the Petranaki arena in 22 BBY. The ensuing battle on the surrounding plains resulted in numerous Geonosian deaths and significant damage to the hive spire. Despite the destruction, the hive's factories continued their mass production of droids. Archduke Poggle sought refuge in the Progate Temple, the secret residence of Queen Karina and her undead guard.

After the Clone Wars concluded, the Stalgasin hive continued to play a role in galactic affairs. Despite the demise of Archduke Poggle on Mustafar at the hands of Darth Vader, the newly established Galactic Empire utilized Geonosian workers and scientists to develop technologies for the Imperial Department of Military Research.
