The Father, a member of the Ones, held the position of Keeper of the Balance, according to legend. The Killiks from the Thuruht hive considered Abeloth, known as the "Bringer of Chaos," to be the antithesis of the Father's function as the "Keeper of the Balance."
In the era of the Clone Wars, the Father sought a successor in Anakin Skywalker, the Chosen One who was destined to bring equilibrium to the Force, hoping he would take over his duties as Keeper of the Balance. When Abeloth resurfaced in 44 ABY, Grand Master Luke Skywalker, the Chosen One's son, reviewed the mission report stored in the Jedi Archives detailing his father and his mentor's time on Mortis. Luke, after integrating this knowledge with insights from the Thuruht hive, understood that his father's choice to decline the role of Keeper of the Balance had initiated a catastrophic sequence of occurrences. The demise of the Ones led to a gradual descent of the galaxy into disorder, as demonstrated by the proliferation of conflicts over the preceding 65 years.
