Kor Desilijic

Description

Kor Desilijic was a terrestrial planet located in the Kor Desilijic system, a part of the Bootana Hutta area in the Hutt Space portion of the Slice. Hyperlanes linked it to the Gos Hutta, Groth, and Huloon systems. The surface of Kor Desilijic featured great ranges of tall, rocky mountains, the valleys between which were covered in expansive lowlands and swamps. Dank mist enveloped the latter.

History

After the series of calamities and conflicts known as the Hutt Cataclysms, which had led to the collapse of the Hutt Empire, ended around 15,000 BBY, the Desilijic clan of the Hutt species rebuilt its lost power and prestige. As part of that process, the Hutt Rasmal Desilijic Bansek defeated eight other clans for the rights to the planet that would become known as Kor Desilijic. Rasmal's clan subsequently made the world into a throneworld situated at the center of Desilijic-held territory.

The Hutts of the Desilijic clan used Kor Desilijic as a vacation site and, when needed, as a secure safehouse-like hideout, which drew on the Hutt clans' societal pressure against attacking any given clan's throneworld. Such use of Kor Desilijic, combined with the vast treasure holdings the Desilijic stored there, led to numerous layers of the best security the clan could purchase protecting the entire planet. Due to those security measures, it was even more difficult for rivals to insert spies or assassins on Kor Desilijic than it was on other throneworlds.

Locations

Kor Desilijic housed ancient, vast Desilijic estates, with many of the largest such residences being constructed in the planet's swamps. Others, however, were situated atop its highest mountain peaks, above the mist covering the swamps. The excessively opulent Rasmal Valley Palace, named after Rasmal Desilijic Bansek, was one of the planet's oldest and most revered estates. Among its various structures were entertainment halls able to accommodate hundreds of Hutts at a time. Large underground vaults in Kor Desilijic's estates stored the vast treasure and cherished trophies the clan had accumulated over centuries, including precious metals worth inestimable sums of credits.

Behind the scenes

Kor Desilijic was first mentioned in The Essential Atlas, a 2009 reference book co-authored by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry, which placed it in grid square S-11.
