History

Fulkrehm Protial was injured as a result of crash-landing on Kostra.

Fulkrehm Protial was injured as a result of crash-landing on Kostra.

At some point between 2 BBY and 0 BBY, the forces of the Galactic Empire attacked Kostra as part of its attempts to suppress the activities of its enemy during the Galactic Civil War, the Rebel Alliance. During the confrontation, in which the Empire emerged victorious, the Alliance Y-wing starfighter pilot Fulkrehm Protial was forced to crash-land on Kostra, where he was then exposed to a nearly lethal amount of the Imperial trosilon nerve gas.

Although Kostra's native inhabitants subsequently rescued Protial from the wreckage of his starfighter and tended to his condition, they did not possess the necessary medical expertise to bring about a full recovery, and the pilot was left with irreparable damage to his motor control skills. At some point by the time shortly after the Battle of Yavin, Alliance General Airen Cracken mentioned Kostra in an entry dedicated to Protial that was part of a datafile detailing various Rebel operatives.

Behind the scenes

Kostra was created by Chuck Truett and was introduced in Cracken's Rebel Operatives, a 1994 West End Games sourcebook published for use with Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game. The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Kostra system, and therefore the celestial body, in grid square Q-8.
