Kritz Drassarb was born during the waning years of the Galactic Republic and joined the Jedi Order. After becoming a Padawan, Drassarb trained under the Twi'lek Jedi Master Vhiin Thorla. In 23 BBY, Drassarb and Thorla were sent by the Jedi Council to investigate a band of pirates that were operating in the Mid Rim region of the galaxy. They came into conflict with the pirates and two months later, the pirate band had been dismantled and Drassarb was dead.
The Jedi Council absolved Thorla of any responsibility for causing Drassarb's death, though the Twi'lek still blamed himself for it. He returned to his homeworld, the planet Ryloth, where he meditated on how he could have saved Drassarb. Thorla soon found a new purpose and began rescuing Twi'leks that had been captured by enslavers. He established a settlement on Ryloth to serve as a safe haven for individuals liberated from slavery and was very protective of the settlement's inhabitants because he still felt guilt for Drassarb's death.
Drassarb was first mentioned by Lee Pickler in Twi'light Storm, an adventure in the Living Force campaign, which was a supplement to the Star Wars Roleplaying Game. However, Twi'light Storm only referred to the individual as "Thorla's Padawan" and the character was not assigned the name Kritz Drassarb until the Padawan was mentioned in the role-playing supplement Echoes of the Jedi, in 2008. Neither source revealed Drassarb's species or gender.
In Twi'light Storm, it is possible for Jedi Master Devan For'deschel to tell the player characters about Drassarb's death, if they choose to ask her about why Thorla is on Ryloth.
