The Kyber Arch was a structure inside the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. Standing inside one of the Temple's , it was constructed from kyber crystals retrieved from the lightsabers of all Jedi who had died, including those who had fallen in battle, if their lightsaber could be found. It was thick at the base, but extremely narrow at the top to symbolize the perils the fallen Jedi had faced. Scaling and crossing the Kyber Arch was an advanced meditation technique, only attempted by those Jedi who felt called to do so by the Force.
When Jedi Master Zallah Macri and her Padawan Kevmo Zink were killed during a mission to the planet Dalna, the Path of the Open Hand cult took their lightsabers, leaving the Jedi Order unable to place their crystals into the Arch in remembrance of their sacrifice after Jedi Knight Azlin Rell discovered their demise. All the same, Rell and Jedi Master Vin took a moment by the Arch in their honor, with Vin expressing a hope that, eventually, all kyber crystals from fallen Jedi could be found and added to the Arch. Rell soon departed the room to search through the Jedi Archives to try and find answers about why both had died.
The Jedi Master Jora Malli once posed a question to her Padawan Reath Silas, asking why no Jedi could cross the Kyber Arch alone. Malli felt that Silas would not understand the answer to her question if he continued to take it literally, but told him that when he understood the answer, he would know why they were taking an assignment on the Galactic Frontier. When Silas went to study the arch, he witnessed a sole Jedi Knight cross it with no apparent difficulty. Silas was unable to find much time to meditate on Malli's question before he was called away from the Jedi Temple to meet her on the Starlight Beacon space station. During the mission on the Amaxine station, he finally realized the answer; one Jedi never truly crossed it alone, as the Arch was made because of the sacrifice of many Jedi, and other Jedi had then needed to build the Arch itself.
The Kyber Arch first appeared in the 2021 novel The High Republic: Into the Dark by Claudia Gray and was first pictured in the 2023 comic one-shot The High Republic Adventures: Quest of the Jedi, also by Gray.
