L'cayo Llem was a soldier in the Rebel Alliance, serving as part of the Alliance's army in the Galactic Civil War against the Galactic Empire. Stationed at the rebel headquarters of Echo Base on the Outer Rim planet Hoth, Llem was present during the Empire's assault on the base in 3 ABY. Amid the engagement, he led journalist Corwi Selgrothe to a GR-75 medium transport, helping her escape Echo Base.
L'cayo Llem served as a soldier in the ground forces of the Rebel Alliance during the Galactic Civil War against the Galactic Empire. In 3 ABY, he was stationed on the Outer Rim ice planet Hoth at Echo Base, a secret installation that served as the Rebellion's headquarters. That year, a short time after the base was established, it was found and attacked by the Empire.
As the base was evacuated, Llem collided with the journalist Corwi Selgrothe, who was trying to reach Commander Luke Skywalker for propaganda footage, in a hangar. The collision caused him to drop a bag, which annoyed Llem. After Selgrothe picked up the bag for him, Llem cut off the journalist's attempt at apologizing when he asked her if she knew her assigned GR-75 medium transport. Learning she did not know there were personal assignments nor where the carriers were, Llem led the journalist through the crumbling base to a large transport bay, where Selgrothe held onto his arm to avoid being separated in the crowd.
Llem left Selgrothe at a transport boarding line, where he promised that the crews would take care of her and revealed his name. After showing the soldier her holorecorder, Selgrothe took an image of him out of gratitude. While on the GR-75, she came to consider Llem and all other members of the Rebellion to be heroes. After Selgrothe's ship had escaped Hoth, she decided that focusing on their stories could bring hope, starting her new effort by interviewing a rebel beside her.
L'cayo Llem, though initially annoyed by Corwi Selgrothe, made sure to help the journalist reach a GR-75 medium transport, shouting that they would figure out what ship she would leave on once they reached the bay. As she realized when holding onto his arm, he demonstrated no annoyance at the unexpected charge. He promised that the crew would take care of Selgrothe and nodded at her holorecorder when she showed it to him.
L'cayo Llem appeared in the short story "Heroes of the Rebellion," written by Amy Ratcliffe as a part of the 2020 short story collection From a Certain Point of View: The Empire Strikes Back.
