In the adventure, the players take on the role of Green squad, part of the Alliance to Restore the Republic's Irregular unit, Reekeene's Roughnecks. Green squad must rescue the Roughnecks' leader, Lens Reekeene, from an Imperial garrison on the planet Flankers before the star system's sun goes nova.
First published in Star Wars Campaign Pack in 1988, "Lens Reekeene Is Missing" was later republished in Classic Campaigns in 1994. When the adventure was reprinted, there were several minor changes made to the text. These were:
- An Imperialcruiser is stated to be prepared to leave in "16 hours"; this was changed to "14 hours." As such, a reference to the time the Rebels would be able to beat the Imperials to Flankers by was changed from "26 hours" to "24 hours."
- A reference to a "heavy blaster" was replaced with a reference to "blaster artillery."
- A reference to there not being any sign of "human life anywhere" was changed to "no sign of life anywhere."
