Lifeboat bay

A lifeboat bay or escape pod bay was an enclosure on starships which held emergency escape pods and the associated jettison systems.

Verpine asteroid colonies in the Roche asteroid field, such as Command Base and Research Station Shantipole, included lifeboat bays. The lifeboats and their launch mechanisms were recessed into the asteroid walls for easy launching.
