Lisst'n

The Lisst'n were a sentient species that continually shed their skin. They were active in the galaxy dating from the time of Xim the Despot, circa 25,000 BBY. According to legend, Lyechusas, Xim's court poet and the most renowned Lisst'n dramatist, penned three trilogies on the life of the Despot from this time. In the early years of the Galactic Empire, the University of Rudrig, the sole university in the Tion Hegemony, had several luxury dermal autostripper services available for members of the Lisst'n species.

Biology and appearance

The Lisst'n were a sentient species that continually shed their skin. During the period of the Galactic Empire, Lisst'n utilized dermal autostrippers to manage this molting.

History

The Lisst'n were present in the galactic community from as early as 25,200 BBY, when Xim the Despot ruled an interstellar empire. According to legend, Xim commissioned Lyechusas, his court poet and the most renowned of Lisst'n dramatists, to script three trilogies on his life; however, by the time of the New Republic some doubt had risen over the authenticity of this legend after Professor Ransen, a scholar of Ximology, proposed that the original literature surrounding Xim could instead have originated in Hutt propaganda. Other historians, such as S. V. Skynx, disputed Ransen's hypothesis. While Lyechusas' original manuscripts perished over time, fragments of her works survived for over 25,000 years in Oor translations. The Royal Theatre of Argai, where Lyechusas had hailed from, claimed to hold an authentic molt of her skin. The Argai Players annually performed her trilogies to a sold-out audience. One such script of Lyechusas was entitled The Pirate Prince.

During the latter years of the Galactic Empire, the Tion Hegemony's sole university, the University of Rudrig, had a number of luxury dermal autostripper services available for Lisst'n, as well as for members of the Pui-ui species.

Behind the scenes

The Lisst'n were created by Brian Daley for his novel Han Solo and the Lost Legacy, published by Del Rey in 1980. This brief mention revealed little about the species. They later received an entry in The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia, published in 2008. In 2009, Michael Kogge first named the Lisst'n in his Hyperspace-exclusive article Xim Week: The Despotica.
