Doctor Maldien was a male Mon Calamari scientist who lived during the Galactic Civil War.
After the Battle of Yavin, Doctor Maldien was based in a laboratory on Corellia. There, he conducted illegal and highly dangerous genetic experiments, utilizing bio-engineering to create monsters. For instance, the scientist was crossing DNA between aggressive creatures and passive members of the same genus in order to create powerful and intelligent fighting beasts. In 1 ABY, the lab was finally discovered by the Corellian Security Force. Corsec Lieutenant Joth sent a spacer to investigate the lab. The spacer killed Doctor Maldien, and all engineered creatures, and eventually destroyed all the research data collected.
Maldien appeared as a non-player character in the video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts, prior to its closure on December 15, 2011. Maldien was added to the game with the release of the "Publish 28," on April 26, 2006.
