This memorial service took place in 0 ABY on the planet Delaya to commemorate Alderaan's destruction in 0 BBY by the Galactic Empire's first Death Star. It was presided by Alderaan's Princess Leia Organa in a large chamber. Due to the thousands of Alderaan refugees who wanted to participate in the memorial, only six hundred were allowed inside the chamber by drawn lots. A live holonet broadcast was made available to the ones who couldn't attend.
After her speech, Organa encouraged the attendees to put a keepsake of theirs inside an empty capsule which was to be jettisoned to the Graveyard.
