The Elrood sector was a part of the Metharian Nebula Territories
The Metharian Nebula Territories were traversed by the Rimma Trade Route. They also contained the hyperlanes known as the Coyn Route and the Elrood-Derilyn Trade Route.
The Elrood sector was located in a backwater corner of the Metharian Nebula Territories. The region also contained the Tantra system of the Tantra sector.
During the Separatist Crisis, in 22 BBY, an appearance by Count Dooku in the Metharian Nebula Territories spread a wave of secessions in the Rimward leg of the Rimma Trade Route. As a result, the Elrood, Danjar, Tantra, and Sluis sectors joined the Confederacy of Independent Systems, making the entire Rimward leg of the Rimma Trade Route inaccessible to the Galactic Republic.
During the Galactic Civil War, the Metharian Nebula Territories were controlled by the Galactic Empire.
