In the late 1980s Levett became involved in projects to expand American businesses into the liberalizing Soviet Union. In the following years he worked for the United States government, the think tank Center for Strategic and International Studies, and other institutions and businesses related to international investment, economic development, and corporate social responsibility. He died in 2020.
