The Mines of Mandalore were located under the Civic Center in the city of Sundari on Mandalore. They supplied beskar ore to Mandalorians, and were the site of the Living Waters. According to the Mandalorian Creed of the Children of the Watch, a Mandalorian apostate could only be redeemed for removing their helmet by visiting the Living Waters.
The mines existed thousands of years before the time of the New Republic and also during the time of the first Mandalore. According to ancient folklore, the mines were once a mythosaur lair, and Mandalore the Great tamed the mythical beast. By the time of the New Republic Era, when Din Djarin revealed to the Armorer that he had taken off his helmet, she stated the only way for him to atone was to travel to the Mines of Mandalore and redeem himself in the Living Waters, although they were thought to be destroyed in the Great Purge of Mandalore. Din Djarin believed the mines survived after he found a crystal from the surface of the planet that Jawas traded with a traveler. According to Bo-Katan Kryze, there was nothing magic about the mines except for supplying beskar ore to Mandalorians.
Djarin went on a mission to the Living Waters to redeem himself and remove his decree of exile. Eventually he was able to bathe in the Waters. However, he lost his consciousness and was rescued by Kryze, who witnessed a living mythosaur in the Waters, unbeknownst to Djarin. They later returned to the covert to prove that Djarin was redeemed. Paz Vizsla doubted their claims, saying the mines were collapsed in the Purge. However, Djarin brought a proof from the Living Waters, and the Armorer confirmed its authenticity.
