On the planet Wayland, the Guardian of Mount Tantiss established a city near Mount Tantiss and forced the native Myneyrsh, Psadan, and Human populations to build it.
The city first appeared in the opening chapter of Heir to the Empire, the first novel in the Thrawn Trilogy by Timothy Zahn. It was later depicted in the first issue of the comic adaptation of Heir to the Empire, and was mentioned in the Heir to the Empire Sourcebook published by West End Games.
The Heir to the Empire Sourcebook and The Thrawn Trilogy Sourcebook treat the Guardian of Mount Tantiss and Joruus C'baoth as the same character. They established that the Guardian had built the city. A Psadan in the The Last Command mentions that Joruus C'baoth forced the native Myneyrsh, Psadan, and Human populations to live together beneath the shadow of Mount Tantiss. An in-universe datapad entry in the journal of a New Republic historian Voren Na'al titled "A Piece of History" featured in the The Last Command Sourcebook and The Thrawn Trilogy Sourcebook explicitly mentions that, "apparently," according to the myths of Psadans and Myneyrshi, Joruus C'baoth had subjugated the population of Wayland, forcing them to build a small city at the base of Mount Tantiss. The entry mentions that New Republic historians have been unable to confirm these myths.
The city was later referenced in 1995's The Essential Guide to Characters, 1998's Star Wars Encyclopedia, 2008's The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia and the original Databank entry "Wayland" on StarWars.com. However, none of these sources clarify who ordered the city to be built.
