Captain Myle Jandler was a male law enforcement officer who worked as a Constable under colonial governor Duttes Mer in the Rafa system during the Imperial Period. A hulking, powerful man, Jandler was formerly the owner of the Spaceman's Rest cantina on Rafa IV, before losing the bar gambling. Jandler then settled in as one of Mer's chief thugs, and was assigned to keep tabs on smuggler Lando Calrissian after Mer hired him to acquire the ancient Mindharp of Sharu in 3 BBY. Later, Jandler became Chief Supervisor of the penal colony on Rafa V.
A male native of the planet Rafa IV, Myle Jandler at one point owned the cantina known as the Spaceman's Rest in the city of Teguta Lusat, before he lost the bar in a table game. The winner of Spaceman's Rest placed the day-to-day operations into the trust of a bartender droid—a development that rankled the droid-hating Jandler, who at one point attempted to insert a clause into the transfer agreement that would ensure droid would never be allowed on the premises. By 3 BBY, Jandler was banned from the premises of the Spaceman's Rest. Instead, Jandler focused on working as a Constable Captain under colonial governor Duttes Mer, who utilized Jandler's intimidating size as one of his chief hatchet men.
In 3 BBY, Jandler's employer dispatched him to apprehend Lando Calrissian, an offworld smuggler whom Mer and associate Rokur Gepta identified as a promising candidate to recover the Mindharp, an extremely valuable Sharu artifact located amidst the Rafa system's sprawling ruins. Jandler and another constable accomplished this by breaking into Calrissian's hotel room, physically seizing him and beating him bloody, before depositing him in Mer's office. That wouldn't be Jandler's last encounter with the smuggler—not long after, Jandler barged into Spaceman's Rest in order to confront Calrissian, after hearing that the man had entered his former establishment accompanied by a droid and a Toka. Jandler pulled a blaster on the party before attacking the bartender droid, but a distraction from Calrissian allowed the droid to knock Jandler unconscious with a chair and remove him from the premises.
Jandler and Calrissian would cross paths again one final time soon afterward. Having dispatched him to Rafa V to find the Mindharp, Mer had lost his trust in the smuggler, and dispatched Jandler and a squad of constables to arrest him and retrieve the artifact. Jandler and his men tracked Calrissian down, but were swiftly defeated. Fed up with Mer sending him on missions with little information—and discovering a surprising rapport with Calrissian—Jandler and the smuggler agreed to allow each other to go their separate ways peacefully, with Jandler and his men promptly departing Rafa V in their own cargo barge. Jandler and the other constables were safely recovered from Rafa XI not long afterward, and placed under house arrest by Mer.
Jandler later took the role of Chief Supervisor of the penal colony on Rafa V after the activation of the Mindharp and the subsequent restoration of Sharu civilization, in charge of prisoners such as the Bothan Corask Slen'da, an archaeologist arrested for interfering with Sharu-Centrality relations by assassinating key Centrality-friendly Sharu. When a group of offworld adventurers arrived on Rafa V to retrieve Slen'da, Jandler let them leave with the Bothan, as the prisoner's mental capacity appeared to have been withered to nothing from exposure to Rafa V's life-crystals.
A hulking man standing around two meters and weighing around 85 kilograms, Myle Jandler was violent to match, hating droids and the Rafa system's native Toka with a passion. Nevertheless, Jandler grew on Lando Calrissian, who admired the neat and clean-shaven man's sense of style. Although he was one of Duttes Mer's most trusted thugs, Jandler detested the man, realizing that the governor cared nothing for the men who worked for him. Jandler prioritized his own well-being ahead of his employer, and was willing to abandon his mission in order to secure his own safety.
Myle Jandler appeared in Lando Calrissian and the Mindharp of Sharu, a novel written by L. Neil Smith and released in 1983.
