Natasha Liu Bordizzo

Natasha Liu Bordizzo is an Australian actress who portrays Sabine Wren in the 2023 television series Ahsoka.

Biography

When Natasha Liu Bordizzo was filming the movie Day Shift, she filmed a self-tape in which she played a male pilot in a scene from Top Gun. In another scene, her character was paid by a lady to help her, and her line was "Hey lady, I've got all these problems, so stop bothering me. All the work is moving south for the winter." Bordizzo was not given any information on what the audition was for, but she assumed it was for a project with Jon Favreau. She then sent the tape and did not hear anything for a few weeks. Bordizzo later got a call asking if she likes The Mandalorian and she said she did. Months later, Bordizzo met Ahsoka executive producers Dave Filoni and Favreau, and the latter explained that he tried to make the casting process as smooth as possible.

After Bordizzo was cast as the Mandalorian Sabine Wren in the series in 2021, Filoni and Favreau told her it would be great if she watched Star Wars Rebels, but they said the live-action version would always be a new thing that finds its own truth. Bordizzo watched the show because she felt obligated, and she found it to be a free preparation. She liked how Wren showed bravery and spirit despite the challenges and heartache she faced. She had a hard time keeping it a secret. Bordizzo and Rosario Dawson, the actress who played Ahsoka Tano, received wushu training from stunt coordinator Ming Qiu. Bordizzo decided to not take a course in spray painting because she felt Wren would experiment with it. At the Mando+ panel at Celebration Anaheim, 2022, it was announced that Bordizzo would play Wren in Ahsoka.
