By the time of the final years of the Galactic Republic's existence, which ended in 19 BBY, Near Indosa had been mined for millennia, leaving its upper crust riddled with ancient tunnels. The world had been depleted of most of its valuable resources by that time, and after the economically promising worlds of the Far Indosa system were opened for mining during those years, the majority of Near Indosa's miners relocated there.
Near Indosa was introduced in the 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas, authored by Daniel Wallace and Jason Fry, which placed it in grid square P-6.
