One-Day War

The One-Day War was a planetary conflict that occurred on Orto Plutonia during the Clone Wars, between the Talz and Pantoran species.

The conflict

Following the skirmish on Orto Plutonia, a unit of Republic clone troopers under the guidance of Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker and Captain Rex landed on the planet to investigate the disappearance of the clone trooper garrison stationed at Glid Station. In their company were also C-3PO and R2-D2, along with a party of Pantoran dignitaries which included Senator Riyo Chuchi and Chairman Chi Cho.

Upon inspection, they found that both the Republic and the Separatist bases were pillaged by attackers of an unknown species. Skywalker and Kenobi followed their clues to a nearby canyon, where they met the creatures, which turned out to be the native inhabitants of the planet, the Talz. Despite the language barrier, Obi-Wan and Anakin managed to communicate that their mission was for peace, and they arranged a meeting between the Pantorans and the Talz. Unfortunately, Chairman Chi Cho, believing the Talz to be nothing more than unintelligent savages, provoked them into starting a war.

Skywalker and Kenobi appealed to Riyo Chuchi to find a way to resolve the matter diplomatically. She contacted the Speaker of the Pantoran Assembly, who granted her the authority to negotiate peace and declared the Chairman out of order. Unfortunately, the solution came a little too late—both the Talz and the Republic troops had suffered casualties, Chi Cho among them. Senator Chuchi nevertheless approached the Talz with C-3PO and cast a spear and Chairman Cho's helmet before Thi-Sen. Chuchi recognized the Talz's sovereignty over Orto Plutonia on behalf of the Pantorans, and both parties agreed to cease hostilities.

Behind the scenes

The One-Day War was featured, albeit unnamed, in "Trespass," the fifteenth episode of the Star Wars: The Clone Wars television series' first season.
