Outpost Shear was an outpost that served as a defensive position for the Confederacy-allied Jabiimi Nationalists on the planet Jabiim. The outpost was the third position captured by the Galactic Republic forces after Camp Aurek and Point Down in the second week of the Battle of Jabiim.
Outpost Shear served as a defensive position for the Confederacy-allied Jabiimi Nationalists on the planet Jabiim during the Clone Wars. In their pursuit of Commander Alto Stratus, Galactic Republic forces captured Camp Aurek and Point Down in the second week of the Battle of Jabiim.
In the same week, Jedi General Obi-Wan Kenobi, his First Lieutenant Anakin Skywalker, and ARC trooper Alpha-17 led an attack on the Outpost Shear using the first-generation All Terrain Armored Transports, All Terrain Tactical Enforcers, and All Terrain Experimental Transports. As they overran the main emplacement, Alpha-17 suggested to Kenobi to flank the enemy to prevent their retreat. Not prepared for the savagery of the fighting at Jabiim, Jedi Master Sirrus and his Padawan Aubrie Wyn, one of the Jedi Temple's best healers, joined the advance at the Outpost Shear looking for General Kenobi. On her Master's motion, Wyn healed a wounded Nationalist soldier, which left her wondering if the Jedi were soldiers or doctors.
On Kenobi's orders, Padawans Kass Tod and Mak Lotor of the so-called Padawan Pack ambushed the retreating soldiers as they fled along the flanks of the main column of the Republic army. Within days the outpost was captured, and Alpha-17 intended to interrogate the prisoners on Stratus' whereabouts, while Obi-Wan Kenobi ordered to regroup at their camp.
At one point, a HoloNet News Core Edition report on the Separatist attack on the Shelter Base was transmitted from the base. The news report mentioned that attack happened after Republic captured three Separatist defensive positions, including Outpost Shear.
Outpost Shear first appeared in the 2003 comic book Republic 55, written by W. Haden Blackman and pencilled by Brian Ching. It was first identified in "Republic HoloNet News Core Edition 14:9:01," an in-universe HoloNet News report written by Pablo Hidalgo and published in the sixty-ninth issue of the Star Wars Insider magazine on July 2003.
