Phee Genoa was a female human pirate and associate of the Mantellian information broker Ciddarin Scaleback during the early Imperial Era. Scaleback considered Genoa to be the most trustworthy pirate she knew. At some point, she found the Belmont diadem.
Between 19 BBY and 18 BBY, Genoa met Clone Force 99, also known as "the Bad Batch," a group of clone deserters. After observing its variety, Genoa briefly flirted with one of its members, Tech. After the Bad Batch went to Serolonis, the young clone Omega discovered a compass in a junkyard. When Phee Genoa inspected the compass, she used her droid MEL-221 and discovered coordinates to Skara Nal in the uncharted Kaldar Trinary system. Accompanied by the clones, Genoa traveled to the system and followed the compass to a seemingly dead end at the side of a mountain. She, with the help of one of the clone deserters, Wrecker, unearthed a secret entrance, and explored ancient passageways that led them to the Heart of the Mountain, a valuable crystalline artifact. However, when she removed it, it was revealed to be a key to activating a dangerous ancient walker and superweapon. After the walker destroyed the mountain and began incinerating the surrounding area with a superlaser, threatening their ship in the process, Genoa was convinced to replace the Heart in its original position while the clones battled a creature that had crept in. After narrowly doing so, a reaction ensued that melted the artifact and permanently disabled the walker.
Around 18 BBY, Genoa took Clone Force 99 to her adopted homeworld, Pabu. On a remote island, she introduced the clones to mayor Shep Hazard and his daughter Lyana. When the island suffered from a sea surge, Genoa helped its residents evacuate to Upper Pabu with the help of the Bad Batch. When the clones were forced to leave the island to go on a covert mission to Eriadu, Genoa hinted at her feelings for Tech and asked the clone not to see any other pirate or smuggler while he was gone, both unaware of the fate he would soon meet.
When the Bad Batch returned to Pabu, having become aware that the Empire was targeting Omega due to her high M-count, Genoa helped them by asking around about M-count. She later communicated with the Bad Batch via hologram to tell them that she had learned that class-one bounty hunters were targeting the M-count targets.
Later, Genoa landed on an airless moon to refuel her starship Providence. While she and MEL visited the station's shop, Clone X trooper CX-2 snuck on her ship, installing a computer spike into the navigation computer, before fleeing back to his ship undetected. Genoa sensed movement but was distracted by Olly telling her how much payment was owed. Genoa left the moon, having no idea CX-2 had decrypted her navicomputer's data for Pabu. CX-2 reported his intel to Hemlock, who shortly afterward sent forces to Pabu to apprehend Omega.
Genoa arrived at Pabu shortly after Omega's arrest. She told the Bad Batch she arrived unnoticed by using the hidden cavern. She then flew them to Erebus to free former Vice Admiral Edmon Rampart from custody and use him to uncover the location of Mount Tantiss. Upon arriving at Erebus, she set the Providence for "stealth mode" by switching off the engines and descended into the planet's atmosphere. Genoa landed near the perimeter of the Imperial labor camp, allowing the Batch to sneak onto the HCVw A9 turbo tank Rampart was detained onboard. After freeing Rampart, the clones carried an unconscious Rampart onto the Providence while Genoa destroyed a Low Altitude Assault Transport gunship. They made their escape just as the Transport fell over the cliff. Genoa was later seen on Pabu after the liberation of Tantiss.
Phee Genoa first appeared in "Spoils of War," the first episode of Star Wars: The Bad Batch Season 2, voiced by Wanda Sykes. The character was first shown in a trailer released on December 7, 2022.
Genoa has been described as a cross between the Star Wars original trilogy character Han Solo, Jack Sparrow from the Pirates of the Caribbean films, and the pirate Anne Bonny. Supervisor director and executive producer Brad Rau said Genoa was created to give guff to Scaleback in the series. The creators had Genoa put her feet on Cid's desk in her introduction to show her character. Rau said that Sykes brought a lot of bravado to voicing Genoa. Sykes was envisioned early on to voice the character, consequently making her real-world persona inspire Genoa's character tone.
The scene of "Entombed" where Phee and Omega find the Heart of the Mountain inside Skara Nal was a reference to the 1981 film Raiders of the Lost Ark, also produced by Lucasfilm Ltd. When Phee tries to take the Heart, the scene mostly replicates the iconic scene of Indiana Jones trying to take the Chachapoyan Fertility Idol from the Temple of the Chachapoyan Warriors while being seen by his guide Satipo, with The Bad Batch episode having Phee posing like Jones and Omega posing like Satipo.
