Picket Force Two was a task force that served the Chiss Ascendancy's Expansionary Defense Fleet. After skirmish above Solitair, Picket Force Two was assigned to patrol an area located past the Ascendancy's east-zenith edge. After the Defense Hierarchy Council had given Mid Commander Mitth'raw'nuruodo, core name "Thrawn," the command of the Chiss heavy cruiser Springhawk, there was talk of making him the task force's commander. Speaker Thistrian of the Chiss Mitth family looked into Picket Force Two's assignment when he learnt that Thrawn could become its commander, as the Speaker wanted to know if the mid commander would be sent far away from the Ascendancy.
In the current Star Wars canon, Picket Force Two was mentioned in the flashbacks of the 2020 novel Thrawn Ascendancy: Chaos Rising, the first installment in Timothy Zahn's Ascendancy Trilogy. In the Star Wars Legends continuity, Picket Force Two was first indirectly mentioned in Zahn's 1991 novel Heir to the Empire, the first volume in The Thrawn Trilogy. It was identified as such when it appeared in Zahn's 2006 novel Outbound Flight.
