The pirate territories were a region of space under the control of the pirate led faction known as the Sovereign Latitudes of Maracavanya. Within four months after the Battle of Jakku in 5 ABY, the ex-New Republic pilot Nath Tensent spent around a week at an outpost at the edge of the pirate territories. Tensent's visit became knowledge to an old friend of his, Wyl Lark, who tracked the man to the planet Freerock.
