Poderis

Description

Poderis was a marginal world whose colonists hung on through tenacity and stubbornness, with a disorienting ten-hour day and nearly perpendicular axial tilt that resulted in hurricane-force winds during spring and autumn. Its terrain consisted of great mesas jutting up from the planet's oceans, where colonists lived behind the protective screen of great windbreaks called shield-barriers, man-made from starship-grade metal. Poderis was also a drop-off or pickup location for smugglers.

The dark times

After the rise of the Galactic Empire and the issuance of Order 66, escaped Jedi Knight Qid Proko made his home on Poderis. Managing to elude the Great Jedi Purge, Proko made a living as a mechanic, living in peace.

Thrawn Campaign

During the year 9 ABY, Grand Admiral Thrawn used Poderis as a red herring to throw Luke Skywalker off in his search for the Empire's clone traffic. The bait worked, and Luke infiltrated the Imperial planet.

Skywalker was eventually trapped on a roof connecting to the shield-barrier on Poderis, trying to escape certain capture. He was trying to find out whether Poderis was a transfer point for the Empire's new clone traffic. Luke used his heightened sensing abilities to see if Imperials were nearby. In addition to an intelligence agent who was shadowing him, Luke detected blank spots in which his powers could not detect anything, which could only mean ysalamiri. He then knew it was a trap and jumped up to the roof, only to find he could not go anywhere.

He fashioned a protective wrapping for his hand out of a torn piece of the left sleeve of his tunic. He then made a groove in the outside of the wall which he stuck his hand into and began his descent by holding the lightsaber in front of him, digging out a slanted path for his hand to follow in. After he went about 100 meters across the wall, he cut a hole in the shield-barrier and managed back inside the city.

Yuuzhan Vong War

The world was later attacked by the Yuuzhan Vong during their invasion of the galaxy.

Behind the scenes

The PC game Star Wars: Rebellion mistakenly places the Orus sector and, consequently, Poderis, in the Outer Rim Territories.
