Political Reliability Observers oversaw ranking members of the Imperial Military to ensure that they, or those they were close to, did not say or act in ways that were critical of the Galactic Empire and the New Order.
The concept of Political Reliablity Observers was introduced in the Dark Empire Sourcebook, which was released in June of 1993.
