Numerous Jedi integrated this pressure-sensitive mechanism during the construction of their lightsabers, evident in several situations. For example, when Qui-Gon Jinn was struck down by Darth Maul and his lightsaber slipped from his grasp, the blade immediately went dark. Similarly, Anakin Skywalker had his lightsaber knocked away while on Zam Wesell's airspeeder above Coruscant; it deactivated before being retrieved by Obi-Wan Kenobi. Also, when Obi-Wan Kenobi lost hold of his lightsaber during his duel with General Grievous on Utapau, it shut off and fell. Clone Trooper Commander Cody recovered it and gave it back to him. Likewise, General Grievous's lightsabers turned off when Obi-Wan Kenobi relieved him of them.
