A carrier variant of the Providence-class Dreadnought, the Providence-class Carrier possessed a long and bulbous hull of gray color, which featured several blue stripes and the emblem of the Confederacy of Independent Systems on both its port and starboard sides. It also retained a tapering bow and a forward-mounted command bridge on its dorsal surface, as well as a conning tower that rose from the vessel's dorsal surface near the aft.
Furthermore, the Providence was equipped with several sensor and communications masts as well as an interstellar communications array situated along the carrier's hull and at least one Creveld-4 radial ion drive. Later, during its service in the Rebel Alliance's naval forces, the Providence-class Carrier was equipped with additional engine units and a starboard wing and featured red paint on its starboard hull toward its aft.
Between 22 BBY and 19 BBY, during the Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and Separatist Alliance, the Providence-class Carrier served within the naval branch of the Confederacy. At some point in the war, one such carrier participated in an engagement against Republic forces within the atmosphere of a terrestrial body. While engaged in orbit, the ship encountered a pair of Low Altitude Assault Transport/infantry gunships and two clone Z-95 Headhunters, which soared by both of the vessel's sides.
Following the conclusion of the war in 19 BBY, at least one Providence-class Carrier found service as part of the Alliance to Restore the Republic's naval forces. In its service to the Alliance, the carrier participated in the Galactic Civil War fought against Galactic Empire forces. Under the rebellion, the Providence also received various modifications to its hull, which consisted of multiple new engine units, a wing on its starboard side, and a repainting of its hull to feature the red colors that belonged to the Alliance.
During the civil war, between 4 BBY and 5 ABY, the carrier was among several other starships within a rebel fleet that fought in a spatial engagement. The other vessels included at least one Recusant-class light destroyer, which was a type of vessel of the former Separatist Alliance from the Clone Wars, and at least one T-65B X-wing starfighter and a BTL-A4 Y-wing assault starfighter/bomber. In the engagement, the Providence-class vessel and its accompanying forces fought against several Imperial-class Star Destroyers and TIE/ln space superiority starfighters of the Empire.
The Providence-class Carrier was introduced on a card of the same name in the 2021 Invisible Hand Expansion Pack by Fantasy Flight Games, released as part the miniatures game Star Wars: Armada.
