Pulsar tracking

Pulsar tracking was a method used by the Trade Federation to locate starships. Pulsar tracking was fairly reliable for targeting large laser cannons on a starship. It obtained less accurate readings from a spinning ship, which a brave pilot would sometimes utilise dangerously to avoid detection.

In the revised second draft of , written and directed by George Lucas, Jinn advises Ric Olie to spin in order to counter the Trade Federation's pulsar tracking during their escape from Naboo. That moment was included in the film's novelization by Terry Brooks.
