RE-M0, also referred to as Remo, was a droid created by Doctor Nasan Godera during the Cold War between the Galactic Republic and the reconstituted Sith Empire. One of the doctor's assistants on Taris, RE-M0 aided an unknown Jedi Knight in finding and rescuing his master when Godera was kidnapped in 3643 BBY by the Imperial Agent Watcher One.
RE-M0's creator Doctor Nasan Godera was one of the Galactic Republic's foremost scientists during the Great Galactic War with the Sith Empire. Godera was a scientific genius, specializing in the creation of superweapons, and he hated the Empire with a passion. But when the Republic was forced to sign the Treaty of Coruscant, Godera left the Republic in a fury. He fled in secret to Taris, where he set up several laboratories and facilities throughout the ruins of the once-mighty ecumenopolis. It was during this time that Godera created RE-M0, using the droid as one of his assistants.
In 3643 BBY, the Sith Lord Darth Angral seized control of many of the Republic's superweapon projects in an attempt to get revenge on an unknown Jedi Knight for killing his son. Angral sent the Imperial Agent Watcher One to Taris to capture Godera. When Godera learned of the Empire's interest in him, he assigned RE-M0 to watch one of his facilities and spy on any Imperial presence. Watcher One's troops stormed the facility not long after, taking control of the lab and searching for the doctor. RE-M0 did not reveal himself until the same Jedi Knight who had earned Angral's wrath arrived at the facility also in search of Godera. After defeating the Imperial forces, the Knight spoke with Watcher One via hologram. Watcher One informed the Knight that he had used the facility to track Godera's bioscan, but had disabled the tracking equipment before the Knight arrived.
RE-M0's programming forbid cooperation with anyone other than Godera except under extreme circumstances, but the Knight's arrival satisfied the proper conditions. The Knight was able to convince the droid to help out, so RE-M0 told the Knight to repair three tracking relays. While the Knight reset the tracking relays, RE-M0 repaired the computers so that they could track Godera's bioscan. The Knight raced to the ruins of an old chemical plant on the shores of Lake Brell, where they found "Doctor Godera" lying dead at the feet of Watcher One. But RE-M0 had followed the Knight and intervened, telling the Jedi that the body wasn't Godera—a second bioscan had revealed he was still alive. Furious, "Watcher One" shot RE-M0 and revealed that he was in fact an Imperial shadow commando. The real Watcher One had been masquerading as a Rodian named Kulaa, and he had smuggled the doctor out of the base right in front of the Jedi.
Thanks to RE-M0's sacrifice, the Knight was able to eventually track down the real Watcher One and Godera, and rescue the scientist. Before Godera departed to Coruscant with agents of the Republic SIS, the Jedi gave RE-M0's memory core to the doctor so that he could rebuild the droid.
Being a droid, RE-M0 was very loyal to his creator and was concerned for Godera's safety. However, like his master, RE-M0 despised the Empire, referring to them as "Imperial Scum". RE-M0 also disliked the Republic, referring to them as "Republic Cowards"; but not as much as the Empire.
RE-M0 was created for Star Wars: The Old Republic, a massively multiplayer online role-playing game released by BioWare on December 20, 2011. He appears in the Jedi Knight class storyline on the Republic-controlled Taris, where he helps the player locate Doctor Godera. RE-M0 is destroyed after he exposes Watcher One's deception, and his memory core can be recovered and given to Godera at the end of the Taris storyline to complete a hidden quest.
