Rail gun

A rail gun or electromagnetic projectile launcher was a projectile launcher which launched a solid projectile with electromagnetic force. Considered rare and exotic, these weapons were no longer in common usage by the time of the Galactic Civil War, however, The Most Honourable Guild of Armourers would sell select pieces to buyers.

These weapons were used during the rise of the Empire by assassins employed by Asajj Ventress against Jedi Master Yoda. These weapons were small handheld weapons which produced muzzle flash, left tracer fire, and made a "chattering" sound upon firing; the projectiles fired from these weapons were capable of damaging durasteel.

Another type of railgun was the miniature rail cannon.
