Raymas Daal

Raymas Daal was a Human criminal from the planet Naboo who secretly worked for the Trade Federation. In 32 BBY, Trade Federation agents contracted Daal to disrupt a sensor array outside the Naboo city Kwilaan. To do so, Daal met with a group of mercenaries in a restaurant in Kwilaan, intending to hire them to deactivate the array. Agents from the Royal Naboo Security Forces followed Daal to the meeting, and when they arrived, he quickly fled, leaving the mercenaries to deal with the agents. The mercenaries deactivated the array the following night and planned to track down Daal to claim their reward. Daal was eventually captured and detained for questioning by the Royal Naboo Security Forces.

Biography

Raymas Daal was a Human from the planet Naboo. Daal was a small-time criminal who found success when he was employed by secret agents of the Trade Federation, a corporation that conspired to invade Naboo. In 32 BBY, the Trade Federation gave Daal funds to hire mercenaries to deactivate Naboo's communications relays, including a sensor array near the city Kwilaan. The Trade Federation hoped to bring the array down temporarily to allow them to place jamming satellites in orbit around Naboo. It became known on Naboo that Daal had a rich and powerful new backer, leading one group of mercenaries to arrange a meeting with Daal in a restaurant in Kwilaan.

En route, Daal correctly believed that Security Officers of the Royal Naboo Security Forces were following him, causing him to arrive at the restaurant just as the mercenaries were about to leave. He asked the mercenaries to make the meeting quick on account of his suspicions and offered 8,000 credits for the group to deactivate the sensor array, hiding his Trade Federation backing by claiming that he hoped to smuggle a shipment of rare spice past the array and make greater profits by avoiding taxation. In response to the mercenaries' questions, Daal explained that the attack on the array would need to take place the following night and that he would be able to detect the array's deactivation and land his ship in Kwilaan to provide payment. He was also willing to negotiate with the mercenaries for a fee as high as 10,000 credits.

As the mercenaries finished their negotiations, three Security Officers entered the restaurant, hoping to take Daal in for questioning out of suspicion of his Trade Federation connections. Their leader, a large Human, pointed a blaster pistol at Daal and asked him to come away to answer his questions. Daal jumped from his seat and ran to the restaurant's rear exit, prompting the agents to fire at him. One of the agents turned their weapon towards the mercenaries, leaving them to deal with the situation. After resolving it, the mercenaries completed the attack on the sensor array, which allowed the Trade Federation to place their jamming satellites. The mercenaries planned to collect their payment from Daal.

Daal was later captured by the Royal Naboo Security Forces and held for questioning. The Trade Federation would later use the jamming satellites placed during the attack to cut off Naboo's communications while they commenced their invasion of the planet.

Personality and traits

Daal had impure motives for his actions but had a reputation for being reliable in business dealings. He did not reveal his Trade Federation allegiance to the mercenaries when hiring them, instead claiming that he was trying to boost his own profits. He was willing to answer questions from the mercenaries and negotiate a higher fee for the completion of the job. When confronted by security guards in the restaurant in Kwilaan, Daal did not hesitate to flee the scene. He was a light-skinned Human.

Equipment

Daal wore a light-colored shirt under a brown jacket, along with a brown hat. He also owned a ship.

Raymas Daal was created as a non-playable-character by Jesse Decker for the Star Wars: Invasion of Theed Adventure Game scenario "Signal Interruption," which was published on the Wizards of the Coast website on August 9, 2001. Players of the roleplaying game can control aspects of their characters' interactions with Daal, such as their choice of questions about the attack on the sensor array, the time of the operation, and the layout of the array. The players can also negotiate with Daal to receive as much as 10,000 credits for the assignment.

"Signal Interruption" suggests that the players can use the existing playable characters from the Invasion of Theed Adventure Game: Dané, Galak, Rann I-Kanu, Arani Korden, Rorworr, Deel Surool, Toba, and Sia-Lan Wezz. After completing the scenario, players can investigate Daal's Trade Federation connection. The character is represented with a generic mercenary token, which uses an image of the character Televan Koreyy from the 1999 prequel trilogy film, Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace.
