Although many battles of the Clone Wars were fought in space, there were many conflicts in which ground combat was key. As was the case with ships, the escalation in technology and destructive capacity of many vehicles was constant throughout the war. As the Republic produced tanks, transports or two-legged vehicles that would become the forerunners of the Imperial walkers, the Confederacy of Independent Systems was not far behind, and from its machinery came constant innovations in warfare, almost always manned by droids of some kind. Often, having a vehicle with more capacity or speed to carry troops to the battlefield was as important a factor as the power of their weaponry, if not more so. Both sides analyzed every last factor in achieving victory.
