A young orange-haired lad walks through the streets of Black Spire Outpost but bumps into two First Order stormtroopers, who demand to see his identification. The stormtroopers a datacard inside the inner pocket of the youth's jacket. One of the stormtroopers tells the youth that the First Order recognizes his loyalty. The youth looks grim but then musters the courage to snatch the datacard out of the stormtrooper's grasp.
The new recruit
The youth flees through Merchant Row with the stormtroopers in pursuit. He hides behind a wall with the Resistance spy Vi Moradi. (The narrator explains that the Resistance is always looking for new recruits at Galaxy's Edge.) The youth follows Moradi and three aliens including a blue Rutian Twi'lek up the gangplank into Cargo vessel TR141.
The shuttle ascends into the skies, accompanied by two Resistance T-70 X-wing starfighters. They reach space but are intercepted by the Resurgent-class Star Destroyer Finalizer, which has exited hyperspace. The Star Destroyer dispatches three TIE/fo space superiority fighters much to the youth's horror.
However, a T-70 X-wing starfighter quickly destroys the three TIEs before flying on the starboard side of the Resistance shuttle. Poe Dameron waves to the youth, who flashes the datacard at him. The Resistance ships then jump into lightspeed.
