Located at the back wall of the Valley of the Dark Lords on Korriban in the vicinity of the ruined Great Temple, the Ritual Chambers were constructed by the ancient Sith before the Great Hyperspace War. When the Sith Empire returned to Korriban during the Jedi Civil War the constructed their Sith Academy over the long forgotten chambers without ever realizing their presence. When the Sith Empire reopened the academy during the Great Galactic War Overseer Ragate helped to rediscover the chambers and reopen them after centuries of disuse.
Within the Ritual Chambers, the Academy conducted the Rite of blood and bone, a test in which an aspiring Sith was tasked with retrieving a skull from the altar of bones and submerging it within the pool of blood. The ancient ritual preformed at the pool summoned a Sithspawn known as the Bloodfiend which would attack and kill the acolyte should they prove unworthy and their skull would be added to the altar. During the Cold War an acolyte at the Academy conducted the ritual and slew the Bloodfiend, leaving its corpse to rot in the pool of blood.
