The Secessionists represented star systems that considered leaving the Republic. Though relatively small as a voting bloc, vital and opportunistic systems could increase their influence by threatening with secession. Even then, most still contended for diplomatic solutions and hoped to legitimize the Separatist Alliance, an effort that ultimately failed and resulted in the Clone Wars, fought from 22 BBY to 19 BBY.
