Security spike

Security spikes first appeared in BioWare's 2003 video game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, where they were intended to be single-use items that would give a +5 bonus to the player-character's roll when attempting to unlock doors or containers. Due to a bug in the code, security spikes did not function correctly in the PC release of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. This bug was not present on the original Xbox physical copy, and was fixed for both later releases of the game and the game's 2004 sequel, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords.

They can be made by Mission Vao aboard the Ebon Hawk for free.
