Seoul 5 was a planet in Wild Space which was home to an ancient Human civilization in the Pre-Republic era. The Seoularians, as they were called, powered their cities with enormously powerful crystals that were kept in large supplies underground. Seoul 5 was long uninhabited by the Galactic Civil War, and its location lost—however, the legendary lost world was finally rediscovered in 4 ABY.
Located deep within Wild Space, Seoul 5 was a heavily forested planet easily inhabited by Humans.

Seoul 5 was once home to a civilization of early Humans who were said to have left the planet Notron—"the cradle of Humans in the galaxy"—to settle the world. The Seoularian civilization eventually expanded beyond the bounds of Seoul 5, colonizing a number of outpost worlds, and fell under the yoke of the Rakatan Infinite Empire at some point during the Pre-Republic era. Seoul 5 eventually became little more than a legend after its society declined, its location lost and the planet itself commonly believed to have been destroyed in a cosmic war. However, Seoul 5 was finally rediscovered during the era of the Galactic Civil War. Shortly before the outbreak of open warfare between the Galactic Empire and the Rebel Alliance, a lone Imperial scout stumbled upon Seoul 5 after his ship was knocked off course while entering hyperspace. The scout explored the intact remains of a large, ruined city and discovered a large cache of Seoularian crystals. The visitor left upon repairing his craft, taking a crystal as a keepsake, but a planned return voyage was scuttled by the outbreak of war.
That crystal, along with Seoul 5's location, fell into the hands of Rebel hero Han Solo in 4 ABY, not long after the Empire's climactic defeat at Endor. Solo arrived on Seoul 5 to find that he wasn't the only one to rediscover the world—he had been preceded by an Imperial landing party led by Captain Drezzel, who followed research by xenoarchaeologists Ualp Xathan and Fem Nu-Ar to the lost planet. Solo and the Imperials came to blaster fire as both parties contested a valuable supply of Seoularian crystals, and Solo ultimately overloaded the city's crystal control room in order to wipe out the Imperial force. Solo narrowly escaped the city along with Xathan and Nu-Ar, and left the world uninhabited once again.
Seoul 5's ancient Human civilization was long-vanished by the planet's rediscovery in 4 ABY, but left echoes of its passing both on Seoul 5 and its colony worlds. The people of Seoul 5, who spoke a language called Seoulian, worshipped the mother goddess Onrai, placing large statues of the deity in their cities.
Seoul 5 was denoted by massive cities left behind by the Seoularian civilization, some of which were remarkably well-preserved by the Galactic Civil War, many generations after Seoul 5 was depopulated. At least one of these featured a prominent statue of the goddess Onrai in the city center. The cities were powered by unique radiant crystals, which were kept in chambers and tunnels deep underground.
Seoul 5 appeared as the primary setting of Star Wars (1977) 84, written by Roy Richardson, illustrated by David Mazzucchelli and released in 1984.
