Gray shards that glowed blue at night were found by a human on the planet Carajam between 2 BBY and 4 ABY. The criminals Zingo Gabnit and Turfitch claimed them, planning to kill the human to keep the shards secret until they were interrupted by the arrival of the bounty hunter Boba Fett. Gabnit later tried to bribe Fett with the shards in an unsuccessful attempt to bargain for his life.
The shards were uncovered between 2 BBY and 4 ABY. by a human, who gave them to the criminals Zingo Gabnit and Turfitch. While Turfitch carried the shards away in a sieve, Gabnit prepared to kill the human to keep the existence of the shards hidden. This led the human to offer the shards freely and promise their silence on the affair in exchange for their life. The human was inadvertently spared when the criminals spotted the formidable bounty hunter Boba Fett in the distance, allowing her to escape while Gabnit and Turfitch kept the shards and prepared to deal with Fett.
Fett initially ignored the two but later tracked Gabnit down to collect a 100,000 credit bounty on him. After he was cornered by Fett, Gabnit attempted to bribe him into an alliance, offering the shards—which he kept in a pouch—as a down payment, claiming they were worth more than his 100,000 credit bounty. Fett rejected the offer and claimed the bounty instead.
The shards were created for the one-shot comic Age of Rebellion - Boba Fett 1, which was written by Greg Pak, penciled by Marc Laming, and published by Marvel Comics on May 8, 2019 as part of the Star Wars: Age of Rebellion comic series. Prior to the comic's release, they were first pictured, albeit unnamed, in an article published on StarWars.com on April 15, 2019, providing a preview for the comic.
