Shem-Lern was a male gunrunner who held information regarding the capture of Han Solo by the bounty hunter Boba Fett. Lando Calrissian and Chewbacca pursued Shem-Lern, intent on getting this information, but their chase was cut short when General Carlist Rieekan ordered the pair back to the Alliance Fleet to participate in a critical mission to infiltrate and destroy the Imperial superweapon known as the Tarkin.
