A shire was a common hooved beast of burden used on Tython at the time of the Je'daii Order. A particular small species of shire, thinner than those found elsewhere on Tython, made its home in the Silent Desert, where the water humps it bore on its back and neck aided in its survival. The mythological Solocorn resembled a winged shire.
