The Inn contained a special suite designed specifically for the use of Hutts. Jabba and Gardulla the Elder met there on occasion.
It was here that Han Solo, Leia Organa Solo, C-3PO and Chewbacca stayed to avoid being recognized by any locals or Imperial Forces. They were recovering from exposure to a severe sandstorm, during their mission to recover Killik Twilight and the hidden Shadowcast key it contained. Imperial forces, led personally by Grand Admiral Thrawn (disguised as a stormtrooper), discovered the Solos here, leading to a firefight and the Solos' escape. This would mark the first occasion that the Solos came across Thrawn in his final campaign against the New Republic.
The Hôtel Sidi Driss in Matmata, Tunisia, was the real location where interior shots of the Lars homestead were filmed for Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope.
