Jedi General Depa Billaba and her battalion were sent to Kardoa to recon the planet and confirm or deny a Separatist presence there. The Separatist forces, under General Grievous, General Kleeve, and Colonel Coburn Sear were also confirming a Galactic Republic presence there. Kleeve saw no reason to attack Kardoa, since there was nothing at stake, and, at the orders of Count Dooku, then left to conquer Kaller. Grievous meanwhile, departed for to the planet Mygeeto, leaving Colonel Sear to deal with the Jedi.
B1 battle droids ambush the Republic troops
Billaba and her apprentice, Caleb Dume, arrived with their battalion then moved out towards the canyons, splitting into five squads to sweep the area. Billaba and her battalion then came under attack by battle droids. With the trail gone, Billaba's battalion was unable to retreat. She then called air support. Dume leaped head-on into the battle droids. Billaba then left Clone Corporal Big-Mouth behind with Dume to keep the battle droids at bay while she destroyed the jamming signal.
Colonel Sear observed Dume fought and soon took a speeder to find Billaba before she could outflank his forces. Dume was then wounded and surrounded by battle droids, but he was saved by the clone trooper CT-1157, who sacrificed himself to save Dume. Despite, Billaba and her troops then targeted Sear's shuttles slowly. Sear, knowing that his forces could not risk being stranded there, ordered his troops to pull back and secure their shuttles. Thus the Separatist forces retreated.
Following the battle, CT-1157, earning the name "Stance" for his actions, received a commendation for valor. Billaba and her battalion were then sent to Mygeeto.
