Sol's lightsaber first appeared in "Lost / Found," the first episode of the first season of the live-action series The Acolyte, which premiered June 4, 2024. The lightsaber was first previewed in a trailer shown exclusively at Celebration Europe during the Lucasfilm Studio Showcase on April 7, 2023. It was then shown publicly in the official trailers for the series, which were posted on the official Star Wars YouTube channel on March 19, 2024. It was later specified as "Sol's lightsaber" in its personal Databank entry on StarWars.com, which was posted by June 19, 2024.
When choosing colors for the various lightsabers in the show, showrunner Leslye Headland picked each saber's color to be the most aesthetically pleasing, based on who they would fight. An exception was Sol's Lightsaber, which Headland said was always going to be blue.
