Sonogari was a male pilot in the New Republic's Riot Squadron with the callsign Riot Seven. He was close to the fellow pilot Wyl Lark, and he became the unofficial flight instructor to the young pilot. Despite coming to kiss him on one occasion after the battle at the astronomical object Sarapin, the pair decided that they were not compatible and remained friends. Shortly following the Battle of Endor in 4 ABY, Riot Squadron and the A/SF-01 B-wing starfighters of Hound Squadron flew with the EF76 Nebulon-B escort frigate Hellion's Dare on a reconnaissance mission.
When stationed at the planet Jiruus, Sonogari and his comrades said goodbye to Lark, who intended to leave the next day. However, the 204th Imperial Fighter Wing attacked the Dare above Jiruus, forcing the frigate and its starfighters to retreat to the Oridol Cluster. The pilot Nasi Moreno was lost along the way, and Sonogari refused to cry for her. The 204th then continued to pursue the Hellion's Dare through the cluster, and Sonogari was killed in the first battle, receiving a funeral by his squadron shortly after.
During the Galactic Civil War, Sonogari served in the Rebel Alliance against the Galactic Empire, flying an RZ-1 A-wing interceptor for Riot Squadron under the callsign Riot Seven. When the polynean Wyl Lark first joined Riot Squadron, Sonogari acted as his informal flight instructor and helped him learn the controls of his A-wing interceptor. During these unofficial lessons, the two discussed family, art, religion and the different worlds they'd visited. Sonogari told Lark about his mother and Lark spoke of his fears for his aunt and uncle. After a fleet battle at the astronomical object Sarapin, the two friends kissed, but laughed about it later and decided they were not a good match for a relationship. In 4 ABY, Riot Squadron took part in the Battle of Endor, which saw a major victory against the Empire and the death of the Emperor.
Shortly after the Battle of Endor, Riot Squadron and Hound Squadron, an A/SF-01 B-wing starfighter squadron, were assigned to a scouting mission with the EF76 Nebulon-B escort frigate Hellion's Dare. While stationed over the planet Jiruus during the final stages of the mission the pilots of Riot Squadron celebrated Lark as he intended to leave the next day to return to his homeworld Polyneus. The Ishi Tib Sata Neek jokingly proclaimed that only he would truly miss Lark, jesting that Sonogari would never admit to missing the polynean while the Neek was around. Sonogari then kissed Lark on the forehead before proceeding to splash through a pond riddled with glowing lilies. The group of pilots Sonogari mingled with then traveled through a garden telling stories of Riot Squadron's past missions.
That night, the Hellion's Dare was attacked by the TIE/ln space superiority starfighters of the Empire's 204th Imperial Fighter Wing. Sonogari, along with the other members of Riot Squadron and Hound Squadron, quickly moved to defend the Hellion's Dare and the reconnaissance group successfully escaped into hyperspace. When the starships exited hyperspace in the Oridol Cluster, the pilots were ordered to report in, Sonogari complying with the order. However, it was discovered that Riot Eight, Nasi Moreno, had been killed before she could enter hyperspace in the Jiruus system. Aware that Sonogari would mourn her the most, Lark embraced him after they landed at the Dares hangar, but Sonogari refused to cry for his lost comrade.
The pilots of Riot Squadron gave Moreno a funeral which involved an ion detonation, a blackout, and a series of candle lit eulogies. The 204th, which had tracked the Hellion's Dare to the Oridol Cluster, soon arrived and attacked the frigate one again. Sonogari and the rest of Riot Squadron scrambled to defend the Dare alongside Hound Squadron, but when the reconnaissance group fled once again, Sonogari was intercepted and killed before he could jump into hyperspace. Lark wept for the loss of his comrade while travelling through hyperspace following the battle. Meanwhile, the 204th forces salvaged Sonogari's A-wing to determine the jump coordinates which had been sent to the New Republic fighters prior to their retreat.
After exiting hyperspace again the surviving pilots of Riot Squadron held a funeral for Sonogari. After the funeral, the moved to the Dares morgue and Neek shared a story that began as an ode to Sonogari's literary tastes. The 204th continued to pursue the Hellion's Dare and its escort squadrons, dwindle their forces. It was soon discovered that the fighter wing had picked off fighters like Sonogari's in order to retrieve their jumper coordinates and find where the squadrons had fled. However, the Dare and both squadrons were subsequently destroyed, with Lark and the B-wing pilot Chass na Chadic being the only to escape with their lives. Lark later thought of his friend numerous time after.
Sonogari was a male individual who had a severed relationship with his mother. During his time with Riot Squadron, he was close to Wyl Lark, teaching him the controls of an A-wing and engaging in conversations with him, but later decided that they were not compatible for a relationship. Despite being predicted to mourn Nasi Moreno the most, Sonogari refused to cry for her when she died.
Sonogari first appeared in the 2019 novel Alphabet Squadron, written by Alexander Freed.
